Lattice tube model of proteins.
We present a new lattice model for proteins that incorporates a tubelike anisotropy by introducing a preference for mutually parallel alignments in the conformations. The model is demonstrated to capture many aspects of real proteins.
متن کاملFolding pathway of a lattice model for proteins.
The folding of a protein-like heteropolymer is studied by using direct simulation of a lattice model that folds rapidly to a well-defined "native" structure. The details of each molecular folding event depend on the random initial conformation as well as the random thermal fluctuations of the polymer. By analyzing the statistical properties of hundreds of folding events, a classical folding "pa...
متن کاملA Minimal Off-Lattice Model for Alpha-helical Proteins
A minimal off-lattice model for α-helical proteins is presented. It is based on hydrophobicity forces and sequence independent local interactions. The latter are chosen so as to favor the formation of α-helical structure. They model chirality and α-helical hydrogen bonding. The global structures resulting from the competition between these forces are studied by means of an efficient Monte Carlo...
متن کاملA dynamic lattice model for heterogeneous materials
In this paper, the mechanical behavior of three-phase inhomogeneous materials is modeled using the meso-scale model with lattice beams for static and dynamic analyses. The Timoshenko beam theory is applied instead of the classical Euler-Bernoulli beam theory and the mechanical properties of lattice beam connection are derived based on the continuum medium using the non-local continuum theory. T...
متن کاملInteractions of Encephalitozoon cuniculi polar tube proteins.
Microsporidia are eukaryotic, obligate intracellular organisms defined by small spores that contain a single invasion organelle, the polar tube, which coils around the interior of the spore. When these parasites infect host cells, the polar tube is discharged from the anterior pole of the spore, pierces the cell, and transfers sporoplasm into the cytoplasm of the host. Three polar tube proteins...
